Our Doctors

 

Our team of experienced doctors includes GPs that care for all ages and have experience in all facets of general practice, including pregnancy care, paediatrics, childhood immunisations, cervical screening, women’s health, menopause, family planning and contraceptive counselling, Implanon insertion/removal, men’s health, aged care, wound care and diabetic care.


We provide a full travel medicine service, including yellow fever vaccination, and have a current stock of most travel vaccines. We perform skin checks and skin excisions, and we perform iron infusions.

Dr. Emily Jones (Principal)

Emily graduated from Monash University in 2005, and after working in Melbourne and Sydney, joined the Beaumaris team in 2011. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice, with a particular passion for paediatrics, adolescent and women's health, as well as preventative health care and family planning. She loves seeing children, completing a Diploma of Child Health in 2012. When she isn't at work, Emily is busy sipping babycinos and running around in local playgrounds with her three children, socialising with friends and trying her best to read a book and do some exercise.

Dr. Meredith Barrett

Meredith joined Beaumaris Medical Centre in March 2015. She has a graduate-entry medical degree from the University of Queensland and enjoys all areas of general practice. She has a special interest in the areas of preventative health (including managing risk factors for chronic disease), mental health, womens’ health and young peoples’ health.

Outside of work Meredith enjoys playing the violin in string quartets and orchestras (including Australian Doctors’ Orchestra and Corpus Medicorum), spending time with family, and keeping as active as possible with beach walking, bushwalking, gardening and travel.

Dr. Carolyn Brown

Carolyn graduated from Monash University in 1978. She joined Beaumaris Medical Centre in January 2014, after nearly 30 years of practice in East Bentleigh. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, including aged care (in clinic and in nursing homes), women's health and paediatrics. Outside work she is married with one adult son. She enjoys hiking, gardening and cooking.

Dr. Robyn Green

Robyn graduated from Monash University in 1982 and has worked at Beaumaris Medical Centre since 2002. Her interests include Type 2 Diabetes, Implanon insertion and removal, and preventative health at all ages. Robyn has completed her Masters in Public Health which has enhanced her interest in the prevention of chronic illnesses. Outside of work she is married with two adult children. She enjoys playing golf, walking and snow skiing as well as watching her son play football.

Dr Charis Herman

Charis graduated in 1982 from Melbourne University and began working at Beaumaris Medical Centre in 1985. Charis loves all aspects of General Practice, including women's health, counselling and minor procedures such as suturing and removal of lesions. Charis and Robert have two adult children . Charis enjoys embroidery, cooking, gardening and walking her dog, Lexie.

Dr. Carreen Jansen

Carreen graduated from Monash University in 1996 and has been working at Beaumaris Medical Centre since 2006. Whilst she enjoys all facets of General Practice, she is particularly interested in paediatrics, mental health and preventative care. When she is not working she enjoys yoga, music, gardening and spending time with her children.

Dr. Alice Lam

Alice enjoys the variety of general practice and has special interests in preventative health, mental health, women's health, and complex problems.
When not at work she is running a freelance health writing business or writing fiction as a published author.

Dr. Hamish McLachlan

Hamish graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2012 and has been working at Beaumaris Medical Centre since 2018. He has also held a position at the University of Melbourne, researching type 2 diabetes and teaching medical students. He is currently a teaching associate at Monash University. Hamish’s interests include preventative health, chronic disease management and travel medicine. Outside work he enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, and swing dancing when he can.

Dr. Sharon Monagle

Sharon graduated from Monash University in 1991 and has been been working at Beaumaris Medical Centre since 2002. Her interests include adolescent medicine, mental health, paediatrics, pregnancy care and minor procedures, including iron infusions. She is accredited with Sandringham Hospital and Monash Medical Centre to provide antenatal shared care, an area of medicine she really enjoys. She also works with the Mental Health Tribunal. Sharon welcomes all patients, and is LGBTI friendly. Outside of work she enjoys painting, reading, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Sue Mouritz

Susan Mouritz graduated from Melbourne University in 1988 and then spent a year studying Aged Care and General Practice in the UK in 1992. She has worked at Beaumaris since 2008 and was previously based in Mordialloc from 1994. Her interests include shared pregnancy care and women's health, aged care, chronic disease management, wound management, skin checks and skin cancer medicine. She has enjoyed being an examiner for The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Her greatest professional joy has been watching the beautiful children she delivered in the mid 1990s grow up into wonderful young adults. Her hobbies include cooking and entertaining, musical theatre (watching it, not performing in it!), chasing after her two boys and dreaming of her next holiday.

Dr. Amanda Newman

Amanda (Marnie) has a special interest in the complex interplay between physical health and emotional well-being. She tries to help people with decision-making around the various pathways in managing sickness and health. She has a particular expertise in women's health, providing health care and education to women and to other health practitioners. She works concurrently at Jean Hailes for Women. Amanda practises yoga, sails, and climbs ‘mountains and molehills’. She stays connected with friends, her husband, adult children and young grandchildren.

Dr. Alex Pun

Alex graduated from Monash Univeristy in 2011 and after working in various metropolitan and rural hospitals/clinics, completed his General Practice training in 2017. He joined Beaumaris Medical Centre in 2018 where he consults in all areas of General Practice. Alex has additional experience in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander health, occupational medicine, minor surgical procedures, certified in Implanon insertion/removal and performs iron infusions. Alex holds a Masters of Medicine:Pain Management, Diploma of Child Health, Post Graduate Diploma in Anatomy and a certification in Monash FODMAP dietetics for irritable bowel syndrome. He has several hobbies but is most passionate about tennis and skiing.

Dr. Robert Schattner

Rob works in all areas of General Practice, but has a special interest in aged care, providing medical care to many local patients in nursing homes and in their homes. He also has an interest in wound care, that he provides in conjunction with our team of experienced nursing staff. When he’s not at work, Rob enjoys playing tennis, wood turning and spending time with his adult children.
